Born 25th December 1948. Signed with Columbia Records 1969, moved to ABC/Dot Records in 1975 First top 5 country track was "Standing Room Only" in 1976 and her first No. 1 hit in 1978 with "Sleeping Single in a Double Bed" In the 1980s, she hosted her own US TV variety network show called "Barbara Mandrell and the Mandrell Sisters." In 1984 Barbara Mandrell was involved in a severe automobile accident, leaving her with serious injuries. She later moved into acting. In October 2006 she was honoured with the release of a new tribute album "She Was Country When Country Wasn't Cool: A Tribute To Barbara Mandrell" on BNA Records.
